Saving trees?

Just received new LG LED monitors. The have a special eco mode that tells you how many trees you save by using it in eco mode as opposed to the plunder and pillage mode that it normally runs in. The only problem I have is that when I left the office on Friday I turned the monitors off. I returned this morning to find out that I have saved no more trees than I had Friday. I had only saved .04 trees on each monitor. If they had been off they certainly would have save more.

So should I guess I need to leave the monitors on to find out how many trees I save because saving trees is important even if a couple have to go down so you can know that you saved so other trees.

What if you are running the monitors on solar or wind power. How is running them in any mode saving trees?

Terms and Conditions

Am I really expected to read 55 pages of terms and conditions for iTunes on my iPhone? 55 pages that I then have to scroll on to be able to read the entire page. How about just, we are Apple do it our way or don't do it on our devices.

gray fine print

I don't general like bashing products but I was looking at the Nike+ thing that you put in to the sole of a shoe and it can link to you iPod or iPhone and then sync to your computer. I thought it was a neat concept and that is only $30 on top of the price of the special shoes that can use the Nike+ which of course are Nikes. As I was reading the specs I was drawn to the gray text that basically said it will last like 1000 hours and then the whole thing needs replacing.

Now this is probably like 4-6 years for most people but still. Do you need to say all that or just say battery is not replaceable.

Dell will plant a tree.

I was looking at Dells laptops and I saw that they will allow you to plant a tree to offset the carbon of the monitor you pick. If you are feeling generous you can just plant a tree. My question is for $2,$3 or $4 do they plant one tree if each, if so is it a different tree for each amount or is it that they have a figure like $60 for a tree and they just wait till the hit $60 dollar and plant one.

Here is a thought, there is a crack team of gardeners at Dell that wait for a light to go off and then they run out and plant a tree.

Three upgrades and only one oops

Well a week ago I installed a 320gb hard drive and 4gb of memory into my Mac Book Pro. I managed to put everything back together and only forget to reattach the keyboard. I finished the last screw opened it up and pressed the power and nothing happened. I thought oh no what did I do and then I thought I don't remember if I connected the keyboard. So after disassembling it again, reconnecting the keyboard and then putting it all back together it work.

Today I purchased Snow Leopard and as far as I can tell the install was perfect.

So far...

Car Wash fragrances

I went an had my car washed yesterday and they asked what fragrance I wanted. They had New Car, Vanilla, Cherry and a few others. I went with New Car because it is a new car. Well that gave me a slight headache. On the way home from work I picked up the fried chicken and that made me wonder why they don't have fragrances like Fried Chicken, Buffalo Sauce and everyone's favorite Bacon. The ride home was probably the most relaxing in a while cause I had chicken on the brain.

Mmmmmm...fried chicken.

Saying goodbye to my 'misspent' youth

Well almost two weeks ago I put my Jeep up for sale on Craigslist and almost instantly got several responses, I had ten the first day. I had one guy who sight unseen was driving for Corsicana with a trailer because he liked all the components that were on it and was looking for a second trail vehicle. So less than 30 hours on Craigslist and the Jeep was sold. I had the Jeep for 13 years and had been on many trail rides with it. I put a lot of time and money into it and I had fun but I just don't have the time right now so I am glad that it went to someone who has the time to put into it.
